Padma-shri Dr. Indira Hinduja is a renowned obstetrician, gynecologist, and infertility specialist in India. She is the pioneer of in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer and credited the delivery of India’s 1st scientifically documented test-tube baby (1986), the 1st Gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT baby 1988) and the 1st egg-donation baby (1990).

After completing primary education in municipal school, being a good student, she did an M.D. in Obstetrics & Gynecology and was also awarded a Ph.D. in human in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer from Mumbai University. Her continuous zest in the research field has broadened the vision in stem cell development, embryo implantation, metabolomics, and detecting genetic abnormalities in embryos.
